Two of the bull calves were too big for my banding gun (I had let them get too big), and one had an undescended testis. So I needed to call in our wonderful vet Des James. But first I had to separate the three calves from the herd .... this is how I broke my leg 2 years ago so I am always a little nervous. But job done, in gorgeous cool misty conditions (rare for February). Des castrated both calves standing up in the crush without issue, and the undescended testis remains undescended! A successful and enjoyable morning.
